Meiji Indonesia Supports Scientific Advancement at RESPINA 2026
PT Meiji Indonesian Pharmaceutical Industries proudly participated in the 27th International Meeting on Respiratory Care Indonesia (RESPINA) 2026, held on 22–25 July 2026 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. Under the theme "Respiratory Care: From Guidelines to Clinical Practice," RESPINA 2026 served as one of Indonesia's leading scientific congresses in respiratory medicine, bringing together pulmonologists, healthcare professionals, researchers, academicians, and both national and international experts to discuss the latest advances in respiratory diseases and the implementation of evidence-based clinical practice.
RESPINA 2026 featured a comprehensive scientific program, including international symposia, hands-on workshops, a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Workshop in collaboration with the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), scientific competitions, case report forums, oral presentations, exhibition, and various interactive scientific discussions. These sessions provided valuable opportunities for participants to broaden their knowledge, exchange clinical experiences, and strengthen scientific collaboration with respiratory experts from around the world.
Scientific Discussion with RESPINA Founders and Chairperson
As part of the RESPINA 2026 scientific program, Meiji Indonesia had the opportunity to participate in a scientific discussion with some of Indonesia's leading experts in respiratory medicine. The discussion was attended by dr. Linda Masniasari, Sp.P(K).Onk.T.FISR, Chairperson of RESPINA, together with RESPINA Founders: Prof. Dr. dr. Menaldi Rasmin, Sp.P(K), FCPP, Dr. Pradjnaparamita, Sp.P, FCPP, dr. Sutji Astuti Mariomo Soekamto, Sp.P(K), FCPP, and Dr. Ida Bernida, Sp.P, FCPP.
During the scientific discussion, Prof. Dr. dr. Menaldi Rasmin, Sp.P(K), FCPP, Founder of RESPINA, acknowledged PT Meiji Indonesia, represented by Mr. Kazumasa Kodama, Director of Sales & Marketing, for its valuable support in promoting Continuing Medical Education (CME) for healthcare professionals in Indonesia, particularly in the field of respiratory medicine through RESPINA.
In response, Mr. Kazumasa Kodama reaffirmed PT Meiji Indonesia's long-term commitment to supporting scientific advancement and continuing medical education through strategic collaboration with RESPINA. This shared commitment reflects Meiji Indonesia's dedication to fostering professional development among healthcare professionals and advancing evidence-based clinical practice to improve patient care in Indonesia.
Supporting Continuing Medical Education Through a Satellite Symposium
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting Continuing Medical Education (CME), Meiji Indonesia also contributed to RESPINA 2026 through the organization of a Satellite Symposium entitled "Winning Against Pulmonary Infection and Chronic Pulmonary Disease (COPD)." The symposium provided a scientific platform for healthcare professionals to gain the latest evidence-based updates on the management of respiratory infections while discussing their practical application in daily clinical practice.
During the symposium, dr. Sutji Astuti Mariono, Sp.P(K) delivered a scientific presentation entitled "Optimizing Treatment For Lower Respiratory Tract Infection (LRTI)” The presentation highlighted the importance of selecting appropriate empirical antimicrobial therapy based on patients' clinical conditions as well as the local microbiological patterns within each healthcare institution.
In her presentation, she stated:
"Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) can be treated in outpatient and inpatient, depending on the clinical sign and CURB-65 / PSI Score. So we have to know the pattern of microorganisme in our hospital when given empirical treatment, and major pathogens or primary causative pathogens of CAP are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and atypical pathogens such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydia pneumoniae. Oral Third Generation Cephalosporins, Macrolides, and Fluoroquinolones are the drug of choice in outpatient settings."
The session provided valuable scientific insights into the importance of applying an evidence-based medicine approach in the management of Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP). It also emphasized the need to consider local microbiological epidemiology when selecting appropriate empirical antibiotic therapy, thereby supporting more effective and rational treatment decisions in clinical practice.
Through this Satellite Symposium, Meiji Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to supporting the continuous professional development of healthcare professionals, promoting scientific knowledge exchange, and strengthening collaboration with the medical community to advance high-quality, evidence-based healthcare in Indonesia.
